Yesterday we said goodbye to Maine and headed south. We really enjoyed all of our adventures in Maine and I really enjoyed the hospitals and people I worked with this go around. I met lots of other travelers this time, and who knows, maybe we will end up at the same place again somewhere else. Maine must have done something to us because for the first time in our traveling journey, we got our stuff packed and put into the car without any frustration and without the use of not so nice language! WOW! We took one last picture of Mercy hospital as we drove out of Portland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We prepared ourselves for a long car ride for the first leg of our trip. I wanted to go through all the New England states so we couldn\u2019t take the quickest route. The worst part of the drive was probably New York. It was 3-4 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic. Everyone was switching lanes, lots of aggressive drivers, motorcycles driving between the cars, and homeless people begging for money ON THE INTERSTATE between the lanes! On a positive note, we made it through without a scratch, no angry hand gestures, and only one horn honked at us. We did get to cross the George Washington bridge and we were able to see the NY City skyline. We will go back to NYC one day when we don\u2019t have all of our belongings loaded in our car. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We woke up to pouring rain this morning so it looks like we will have a crappy start to our drive today. We will head to Tennessee to begin our visits with family and friends. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
