Liz and I had the opportunity to put together a display, pamphlet, and game to spread information about the career of Surgical Technology. The local high school held the Southeast Regional HOSA conference and there were lots of high school kids from all over. It was rewarding to share our passion for our career with young students interested in the healthcare field. One kid said “you guys have the best table here!” We told kids who were really interested to call and we would arrange a time for them to shadow. On Monday morning a student called and she came in on Wednesday to shadow in the OR. Not sure how many will actually choose to go into Surgical Technology, but it was a lot of fun to talk to them about it.
