Bridal Veil Falls and Eagle Falls
Bridal Veil Falls
Today we hiked 4.5 miles to see Bridal Veil Falls. I think there is a waterfall with this name in every state. This waterfall is over 1,300 feet tall. You can only see part of it on the trail. The trail was really really wet and we were thankful for waterproof hiking shoes. We actually had to cross several streams on the hike.
View from the parking lot.
Several of the very wet areas that we had to cross on the trail.
Some views during the hike.
The falls. The wind and the spray from the falls made it very hard to hang around without getting soaking wet. The amount of water coming down the falls was quite impressive.
On the drive back, we noticed that you can see the falls from the road so we stopped to take a picture. It’s a giant waterfall!
Eagle Falls
Next, we headed to Eagle Falls. Only, we didn’t know that it was a named fall until we got there. Scott had seen this area on our drive to Leavenworth a few weeks back and wanted to make sure that we made it back to check it out. We just thought the water was a pretty color and the rapids looked neat. Turns out the water level is just really high and that in the summer time, this area is actually a waterfall with a swimming hole. The info on this spot says that you should only swim on the hottest days because the water is super cold and the area is always shaded. Right now, even if the water was warm I think it’s moving too fast to safely swim.
There was a small fall coming down the mountain across the street from this one. Scott was happy that we got to see a train cross while we were there.
On the way home we had to stop to see Bigfoot! We didn’t realize this was a filming location for Harry and the Hendersons.
We had a very enjoyable day. This was probably our last adventure here in Washington. The weather forecast doesn’t look promising for our last week here.
