Paddle boarding and ClamaJama
Saturday was a beautiful and very hot day! My friend Bobbie and I signed up for a paddle board lesson with a new company that was hosting a launch event on the island. We headed out to the Point on Oak Island. I had never been to the Point before, but I’m sure I will go back. The beach just out so that you have the ocean and the intracoastal waterway right there. You can also see Holden Beach right across the water. We sat out on the beach for a bit while we waited for our turn on the paddle boards. The instructor was very patient with us and very nice. We had a good time, but I think I’ll stick to kayaking.
After we got home and cooled off a bit, Scott and I got ready to head to ClamaJama. It was a fundraising event for saving the old city hall. Save the Hall Y’all was the slogan. They had a great buffet, two bands, corn hole, and horseshoes. The buffet included fried chicken, baked potatoes, Mac n cheese, green beans, corn bread, salad, and a seafood boil ( shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, oysters, potatoes, and of course clams). For dessert, they had key lime pie, watermelon, and some kind of cookie. Despite the heat, we enjoyed the food, music, games, and company.
